gum diseaseGingivitis is the mildest form of periodontal disease. Untreated gingivitis can advance to periodontitis, to which there are many degrees. Aggressive periodontitis occurs with people who have gum disease but seem to be otherwise healthy or at least have no other disease that conventional medicine has deemed a cause of periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis includes inflammation within the supporting tissues of the teeth and bone loss. Necrotizing periodontal disease is a severe infection in the gingival tissues, periodontal ligament, and the bone. And then there’s Periodontitis as a manifestation of other disease(s). In all other cases of gum disease, the gums can be healed within a week, and usually within just a few days. With a case of another disease causing the periodontitis, the disease itself likely needs to be remedied to fix the gums, but the mouth can at least be brought to a much higher level of health with the following practices regardless of other chronic health conditions. For anyone with teeth that have suffered root canals or that have metal fillings, the following procedures should be followed indefinitely.

Teeth take longer, but the same rules apply. As long as they are there and aren’t completely full of filling material, there’s hope for teeth, even those with visible cavities and depleted enamel.

It starts with diet. Eat acidic, nutrient robbing junk, and your teeth and guns will rot. Get the right nutrition while you fix your gums, and ideally, you will keep your gums and the rest of your body healthy with nutrition from that point on.

Raw, organic, fresh vegetables are the most important part of our diet. Fruit is a close second. Every other type of food is a distant third. Eliminate refined, processed foods. Refined sugar, like soda for instance, is so acidic it literally leaches minerals and vitamins from your teeth and gums as it passes through. So does white rice and most breads.

Don’t smoke. Even smoking marijuana is terrible for the gums and teeth. It introduces a huge concentration of free radicals and carbon into the mouth that causes chemical reactions, rendering our cells damaged and depleting the mouth of vitamins and minerals.

Chew on garlic. It sucks, but it’s worth it. Chew on garlic regularly, and eat garlic with salads (eats lots of vegetables; make lots of very diverse salads). When you chew on garlic, chew with your mouth open, and breathe through your mouth.

Fix the intestines. Whatever infection is in your mouth, it’s in your intestines, too, and it’s seeping into your blood stream as well. Fix the intestines and typically, the whole body follows suit.

Take up oil pulling. Try coconut oil with a touch of Shillington’s formula (see below) or a microbe killing essential oil.

Floss. Even when it makes the gums bleed, it’s important to floss and floss properly; it speeds healing of the gums and prevents cavities at the gum line as well.

Wherever there is infection, there are almost always candida and bad bacteria (bad meaning it’s harming us, but all bacteria has its place). Often there are other parasites to be aware of, but not always, and that’s another article (see the further reading below).

Make your own toothpaste!

The mouthwash and toothpaste most people use is crap. This includes the most of the overpriced brands in the natural section at the local health food store. Chewing on garlic and brushing with baking soda and unrefined sea salt does more for teeth than any store bought toothpaste. Check out some of the sources below for homemade toothpaste recipes.

For very serious chronic periodontitis, or just to have a good all around mouth formula, I highly recommend doing Shillington’s Tooth and Gum Recipe (there’s also another toothpaste recipe on that page). It’s not necessary for healing gums in most cases, but it radically speeds up the process regardless of how seriously the gum health issues are, and it is truly an amazing formula with lots of benefits for your entire mouth.

fruitAn apple a day can help reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) away. In fact, a seven year study out of China indicates that you can cut your risk of CVD by up to 40% by eating a piece of fruit every single day, and the more you eat the more you can reduce your disk of cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular disease (stroke and ischemic heart disease) is the leading cause of death in the United States and worldwide. Compared to the United States where ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of CVD death, stroke is the leading CVD cause of death in China.

The Study

The seven year study looked at half a million participants in the China Kadoorie Biobank who had no history of CVD. Over the 7 years of the study, it was found that 18% of the participants ate fruit daily while 6.3% never ate fruit (the average portion a day was 1.5 or 150grams). Compared to the people who never consumed fruit, people who ate fruit daily had significantly lower blood pressure and decreased risk of CVD by 25-40%.

In a separate analysis, the team found that those that ate fruit daily compared to those that never consumed fruit reduced their overall risk of death by 32%. Dr. Huaidong Du from Oxford, UK explained, “Our data clearly shows that eating fresh fruit can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, including ischaemic heart disease and stroke (particularly haemorrhagic stroke). And not only that, the more fruit you eat the more your CVD risk goes down. It does suggest that eating more fruit is beneficial compared to less or no fruit.”

Preventing VCD

Along with reducing the amount of hydrogenated fats and sugars you consume and increasing your omega-3 fatty acid consumption, fruit has been previously implicated in helping to prevent CVD. In a 2009 study it was found that eating 2-3 kiwi fruits a day can help significantly reduce your risk of heart disease by lowering LDL cholesterol while raising HDL, also known as “good” cholesterol. The researchers believed this was due to its very high antioxidant concentration.

Likewise, it was found in a study published in the American Heart Association journal, that men who skipped breakfast and instead ate larger meals at night had a higher risk of coronary artery disease. This was hypothesized to be due to some adverse metabolic effects caused by altering the metabolic repair process.

Conclusion

It seems that fruit (along with a healthy diet lacking hydrogenated oils, sugars…etc) can be an easy, healthy, natural way to help decrease your risk of CVD. The team from the China Kadoorie Biobank study said, “Our results show the benefit of eating fruit in the healthy general population and in patients with CVD and hypertension. Fruit consumption is an effective way to cut CVD risk and should not only be regarded as ‘might be useful’.”

World banker calls for population reduction by sickness and glyphosate enters the market soon thereafter

Before glyphosate became the monster agricultural necessity that it is today, it was used as a scaling agent to clean lime and other water deposits from industrial pipes. By 1970, an organic chemist working for Monsanto, John E. Franz, discovered that glyphosate is a powerful herbicide. Two years later, World Bank head Robert McNamara made a statement supporting population control, published in the French Magazine J’ai Tout Compris.

He said, “One must take draconian measures of demographic reduction against the will of the populations. Reducing the birth rate has proved to be impossible or insufficient. One must therefore increase the mortality rate. How? By natural means. Famine and sickness.”

Just two years after that, glyphosate research received major funding from the Rockefeller Foundation and entered the commercial market through Monsanto, quickly becoming an agricultural boon.

Why glyphosate is the pathway to modern day disease

Today, scientists are starting to understand how glyphosate opens the floodgate for a whole host of immune system problems to occur, including mental disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and cancer.

First, glyphosate inhibits cytochrome P450 (CYP enzymes). These enzymes play a crucial role in the biology of human gut bacteria, tasked with detoxifying xenobiotics. The industry behind glyphosate doesn’t want you to know that the chemical acts as a channel for disease. In safety studies, scientists are paid to show that glyphosate’s damage to plants is through the shikimate pathway, which they clearly mention, is not present in humans.

What they fail to mention is that the shikimate pathway is present in human gut bacteria. Most importantly, these bacteria possess an integrated biosemiotic relationship with the human host, aiding in digestion, gastrointestinal tract permeability, synthesis of vitamins, detoxification of xenobiotics and overall immune system homeostasis.

spicesOver the recent years we have been moving further away from the pharmaceutical industry by taking small steps, if you recollect we did an article on how to cure a child from common ailments using an extract from five leaves. But today I’ve cooked up a bunch of spices and common food ingredients that you can use to keep good health and even help and protect you from a range of diseases.

It shouldn’t be surprising that some of the ingredients used in your food can even help protect you against terminal diseases. Lets start off with one of my personal favorites, Garlic.

I know a 70+ year old man who has no blood pressure issues and a perfect blood sugar level that he attributes to his habit of eating three to four raw garlic cloves daily. But this is not just a figment of his imagination, take a look at what this herb has to offer, apart from bad breath that is.

Spices

Garlic

One of Garlic’s main benefits is that it helps reduce Cholesterol. The Linus Pauling Institute’s review of several studies found that people who consumed garlic for three months had a 6% to 11% reduction in total cholesterol. Also since garlic is an antioxidant, it may prevent the oxidation of cholesterol in the arteries.

When you crush Garlic you are immediately greeted by the pungent spell, that is due to Allicin, which is responsible for its medicinal benefits. It’s said that the daily consumption of garlic can help lower heart disease risk by as much as 76 percent. It also thins the blood and hence cuts down on the chances of dangerous blood clots.

Turmeric is well known to reduce inflammation, while in Indian medicine its also used to increase appetite and as a digestive aid. Turmeric gets its golden color from Curcumin. Curcumin is considered as a powerful anticancer agent and quells the inflammation that contributes to the growth of tumors. Yes, powerful lab studies suggest that Turmeric helps stop the growth and spread of cancer cells.

There are numerous studies that talk about the benefits of using Turmeric against cancer and animal tests show that it even helps protect from Alzheimer’s disease.

Ginger

Ginger is such a powerful natural medicine that it finds itself not only in Ayurveda but also in the ancient Chinese medical texts. We have been using Ginger to treat cough and cold. It has anti-nausea properties and is a digestive aid. Ayurveda recommends eating raw ginger before meals for appetite as well as digestion.

Since it cuts down on the triglycerides and cholesterol its awesome for your heart and as a bonus its also rich in antioxidants. Along with a bunch of other spices, cinnamon has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as well.

Another reason to add it into your diet is that its high in fiber and can also reduce heartburn in some people. Wow, bring on the cinnamon buns and rolls.

Cloves

Who hasn’t used cloves or clove oil to stop a tooth ache? Well with the kind of teeth I have, sticking cloves in my mouth has been part of the norm thanks to its numbing effect. But I wasn’t aware that even people suffering from Arthritis can get relief from the pain as it slows down the cartilage and bone damage caused by the disease.

Yet again, even cloves have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can protect one from heart disease, stave off cancer and also appear to improve insulin function. Cloves are also known to have killed certain antibiotic resistant bacteria.

I just thought you might like an alternative view from my pen on this excruciatingly painful condition. Gout is usually caused by an acid up situation in the body. As it is a generic term involving 5 different crystal deposition diseases, its not the complete picture. Conventional medicine anti-inflammatories and a daily dose of Allopurinol as a preventative.

Hydration is rightly stated as another important factor, where water is highlighted as the key element. However, this is not the complete picture, as water on its own does not hydrate the body, it requires electrolytes, in fact excessive amounts of water can stress the kidneys. To enable the kidneys to work effectively, the electrolytes required are mainly potassium and sodium, also magnesium and chloride.

Walking corpse syndrome is a very rare neurological disease, formerly known as Cotard’s Syndrome or Cotard’s Delusion, named after the French neurologist Jules Cotard. Cotard’s observations with his patient, Mademoiselle X, earned him the right to have the disease to be named after him, but his patient’s case, circa 1888, was not the first ever recorded.

In 1788, Dr. Charles Bonnet treated an elderly woman with “the powder of precious stones and opium” after insisting she was dead and in another place. She had demanded she be placed in a coffin and mourned after recovering from a short spell of paralysis and loss of sensation or feeling. The treatment worked for her, but she would have occasional relapses afterward.

This syndrome or delusion has nothing to do with “Zombie Apocalypse”, as covered by Health Ranger Mike Adams during some very strange episodes in 2012 in Miami and other spots in that region.

How Cotard’s Syndrome differs from zombie delusions or compulsions

Extremely rare Cotard Syndrome is the opposite of any zombie delusions. Victims are convinced they are dead or their organs are dead, including their brain in some cases. But they usually don’t want to eat. After all, they’re dead, so why bother?

Besides, there’s no pleasure in eating anymore. Some victims even die of starvation. A loss of feeling and sensation is at the core of this delusion.

Social disconnects are also basic to this delusion. Human interaction is avoided. There’s just no interest. At 14 years of age, Alabama teen Haley Smith had suffered emotionally during her parents divorce. One day in her English class, she had a feeling she couldn’t shake that she was dead. The school nurse couldn’t detect anything.

Haley’s eating disorder was different than most other cases of Cotard’s Syndrome. She decided that she could eat how much of whatever she wanted to eat since she was dead and wouldn’t gain weight or suffer other health consequences. She had a brief spontaneous recovery, but soon after that totally numb feeling returned.

“I’d fantasize about having picnics in graveyards and I’d spend a lot of time watching horror films because seeing the zombies made me feel relaxed, like I was with family,” Haley explained. She spent a lot of time in bed and often missed school, until one day she attempted to reconnect with one of her friends.

Surprised and emboldened by his understanding her experience, she disclosed her condition with her dad. He urged her to see a psychiatrist. But it took Haley another two years to actually do it. Then she was diagnosed with Cotard’s Syndrome (CS). With that handle, she went online to discover others who felt out of touch with their bodies and wanted to visit graveyards. Now she knew she wasn’t alone.

Talk therapy helped her pull through as well as her relationship with her boyfriend, now fiance’ Jeremy, and Disney movies. She had started to watch and enjoy them, getting “warm fuzzy feelings”. That made her begin to realize she wasn’t dead. Now she’s set on advising others who suffer from CS.

Haley was lucky she didn’t succumb to psychiatry’s other solutions: Anti-depressant and anti-psychotic pharmaceuticals with unpredictability and serious side effects, or ECT (electroconvulsive therapy). Yes, good ole’ shock therapy! Those are the go-to standard of care interventions of conventional psychiatry.

Her solution was through talk therapy, a boyfriend, and Disney. You might consider time for her to heal from the trauma of her parents divorce as another aspect of Haley’s healing.
